PASSING OF STATE SENATOR WHO CHAMPIONED LOUISIANA CEP LICENSURE BILL

Members of CEPA-LA and past members of the Louisiana Association of Exercise Physiologist honor the memory of Dr. Donald Hines for his dedication to Louisiana both as a physician and State Senator. Dr. Hines practiced medicine in his home town of Bunkie and served in the Louisiana Senate from 1993 to 2008 and lived a life of service to others. Dr. Hines worked with Exercise Physiologists in Louisiana along with his daughter Donna Newton, herself an Exercise Physiologist, to sponsor and champion a bill for licensure for Clinical Exercise Physiologists. On June 20,1995 the bill was signed into law and Louisiana became the first state to have enacted such a law. We are truly thankful for his support and the lives that he has touched over the many years of service to his community and healthcare in Louisiana.
