Exercise Testing

CEPs administering medications
Author Last Post

Thanks, Clinton!

Brittany- See the discussion thread on regadenoson testing under Exercise Testing in the discussion forum. Simple answer... with proper training and procedures, some institutions do have CEPs starting IVs and giving regadenoson/dipyridamole.

A question from a former student who is currently working for a cardiologist overseeing treadmill and pharmacologic stress tests-

He was recently transferred to a new office and is being asked to become trained to set IVs and is being asked to also push the pharmacologic stress medication‘s such as Regadenoson and dipyridamole.

Are any other CEPs pushing meds (sorry for the lay terminology). Is this a facility based decision that is okay if the business says it is or are there legal/liability concerns that I'm not thinking about? Is this typically not asked of a CEP due to nurses providing overseeing the administration of medications in hospital based settings?

Any insight/advice is helpful. Thank you!
