THE LOUISIANA ASSOCIATION OF EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGISTS BECOMES THE FIRST OFFICIAL AFFILIATE OF THE CLINICAL EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY ASSOCIATION

The Clinical Exercise Physiology Association (CEPA) and the Louisiana Association of Exercise Physiologists (LAEP) are pleased to announce a merger of these two organizations committed to advance the profession of clinical exercise physiology.

Founded in 1994, LAEP is dedicated to improving clinical practices, networking, and education for exercise physiologists for the benefit of the public. Founded in 2007, as an affiliate society of the American College of Sports Medicine, CEPA seeks to advance the profession of clinical exercise physiology through advocacy, education, and career development. Both CEPA and LAEP have signed a Memorandum of Agreement which adds all current LAEP members into the CEPAs membership. In turn, CEPA will develop a Louisiana state affiliate group, making it the first CEPA state affiliate. “This announcement is truly a win-win for both organizations, combining our collective experiences and resources.” Stated CEPA President, Dr. Dennis Kerrigan.

The creation of a Louisiana state affiliate within CEPA, will allow Louisiana members to continue to connect and work with each other at a state level, while being part of a larger organization. “It will create an opportunity to enhance our professional image as exercise physiologists and to strengthen our numbers.” Adds LAEP President Mr. Jim Buxton, LCEP. The merger between LAEP and CEPA is scheduled to happen in June 2018, coinciding with the launch of the new CEPA website.

Eligible LAEP members will be contacted soon to confirm each member's wish to become a member of CEPA and to update contact information.
